Our company history
The industrial tradition of the site where our company operates dates back to the 19th century, starting with the production of malt and salt. A fundamental transformation of this location into a chemical enterprise and the initial production of pharmaceuticals was then realized by the owners in the 1930s. The post-war period launched the large-scale manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients through chemical synthesis. In the 1950s, this operation was taken over by the newly renamed state-owned enterprise Farmakon n. p., renowned for its massive production of B and C vitamins.
In the 1990s, the company transformed into a private, family-owned business and successfully expanded worldwide under the name Farmak. After 1996, the achievements of our Research and Development department were heavily utilized, expanding the product portfolio with new substances such as tizanidine, brimonidine, alfuzosin, tamsulosin, zolpidem, zopiclone, and others. These were high-value-added products with significantly lower demands on equipment capacity and ecological waste disposal. In response to new market challenges and after three decades of building a successful business, we have adopted the new brand name CZECH-GEN. With this step, we confirm the continuity of our family generations and the quality of Czech craftsmanship.
